EF Readiness for College

Studying on the Grass

I help students build college-readiness skills including time management, planning long-term projects, managing multiple classes, and advocating for support. Students also learn to create realistic weekly schedules and build self-monitoring habits—so they enter college with tools they already know how to use. Through a collaboration with Dr. Marci Schwartz, Thrive College Counseling, I also help students identify colleges that fit their academic and executive function support needs, ensuring they have access to the right resources as they transition into higher education.

A Collaborative Approach to College Readiness

Preparing for college and adulthood takes more than good grades—it also requires key life skills and strong executive functioning.  In partnership with Thrive College Counseling, our introductory package helps you and your student gain a clear picture of their strengths and identify the areas where support is still needed. Together, we’ll assess college readiness, explore how college expectations differ from high school, and create a personalized plan to help your student feel prepared, capable, and supported in their next chapter.

Unlike traditional models where support is divided by discipline, our integrated approach brings these elements together as a team. This collaboration helps students build a more cohesive understanding of what’s needed for a successful transition to college.

We also recognize that it can be challenging for parents to objectively assess their student’s readiness for college—especially when academic skills may not reflect readiness for independence, self-management, or the demands of campus life. Our model offers guidance through a strengths-based lens, helping families clarify the full picture and create meaningful strategies to support their student’s next steps after high school.

College Readiness Package

Initial Free Consultation

Meet with Sandy and Marci to discuss the transition to college, share relevant background information, and learn about our services.

Strong Interest Inventory

Marci will begin the next step by sharing a link to take the Strong Interest Inventory, a 30 minute assessment which helps students identify career fields that align with their interests.  After the survey is completed by the student, there will be a one hour session with Marci and the student to review the results and discuss practical information to help consider future goals.  This will serve to motivate and offer direction for the student as they begin to address their college readiness and EF skill building.

EF Readines Survey

Sandy will provide a 20–30 minute survey for  both the student and parent, offering a comprehensive snapshot of how prepared the student is to manage academic, personal, and daily responsibilities that come with the transition to college. This insight will guide the skill-building work we’ll do during our four coaching sessions, spark student motivation, and offer a clear starting point for developing the executive function skills needed for success in high school, college, and beyond.

Skill-Building Sessions

Students attend four individual sessions with Sandy to begin working on practical strategies that strengthen time management, organization, planning, and other key executive function skills.

Progress Review & Planning

Wrap up with a joint meeting with Sandy and Marci to review progress, reflect on next steps, and outline a plan for continued growth and preparation for college life. This may include recommendations for ongoing coaching, additional resources, or specific college preparation strategies.

Are you wondering if you're truly ready for college? This self-paced guide will help you reflect on your executive function skills and identify areas to strengthen before the transition.
